From CEN 04/2026 para 13.1. RRB calls the section split indicative, so the real paper can be off by a question or two in a section.

To stay in the race you need at least 40% as UR or EWS, 30% as OBC (non creamy layer) or SC and 25% as ST. That is only the floor. CBT 1 screens for CBT 2 at 15 times the vacancies of each RRB and community, and with 4,029 posts after the corrigendum of 18.08.2026 that is roughly 60,435 candidates, by our arithmetic.

We read the UR column straight off both RRBs' cut-off lists. A score of 75 would have cleared 8 of Mumbai's 15 post groups but only 4 of Chandigarh's 9, and the toughest groups at both needed 82 to 84. Each RRB publishes its own list by post group, so treat these as a sense of scale, not a target for your RRB.
Where the marks are in RRB JE CBT 1
General science and maths make up 60 of the 100 marks. The science is pitched at class 10 NCERT level: units, Ohm's law, lenses, acids and bases, the cell, human organs and diseases. It is easy to under-prepare, because CBT 2 is the technical paper and CBT 1 looks like general studies. With 90 minutes for 100 questions you have 54 seconds a question, and a blind guess gains nothing on average with the one third penalty, so answer only what you can narrow down to two options or fewer.
